Polar Plunge benefits Special Olympics Minnesota

The Minneapolis plunge takes place at Thomas Beach on lake Bde Maka Ska, on West Calhoun Boulevard in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS — The annual Polar Plunge is returning to Minneapolis, serving as Special Olympics Minnesota's biggest fundraiser.

The Minneapolis plunge takes place at Thomas Beach on lake Bde Maka Ska, on West Calhoun Boulevard in Minneapolis.

Activities start Friday and continue through Saturday.

Here is the full schedule:

FRIDAY, MARCH 1

10 AM-1 PM: Cool School Polar Plunge (Local students jump into the lake and participate in activities.)
3:30-5 PM: Corporate Hour (Corporate Hour gets businesses, corporations, and professional groups of all sizes out of the office to support SOMN. In 2018, 619 Corporate Hour Plungers raised $403,283 for SOMN.)
5-7 PM: Law Enforcement & Executive Plunge (Local Law Enforcement officers and top Minnesota executives take the Plunge.)
7 PM: Fireworks

SATURDAY, MARCH 2

8 AM: Minneapolis Plunge 5K begins
10 AM: Plunger Village + Beer Garden opens
10:30 AM: Opening Ceremonies, Plunging begins
3 PM: Last Plunge (approximate)
5 PM: Plunger Village + Beer Garden closes

It’s not too late to register:

  1. Register online at plungemn.org. You may plunge as an individual or on a team, and are encouraged to wear unique and outrageous costumes on plunge day.
  2. Fundraise by asking family and friends to pledge to your plunge. You must raise a minimum of $75 to participate (only $35 for the 5K). All funds raised support Special Olympics Minnesota.
  3. Check in on plunge day and bring your pledges with you.
  4. Jump into a frozen lake and enjoy fun, music, and being a part of the Inclusion Revolution.
