MINNEAPOLIS — Wednesday evening the Science Museum of Minnesota announced they had received their largest unrestricted gift in recent history-a donation of $1 million dollars.
The donor, who wished to remain anonymous, wanted to further the work the museum staff does with young kids, especially in education and science literacy, according to a press release.
The money was given towards ongoing museum operations instead of a specific program.
“As a non-profit organization, our museum relies on community support to help fund its mission of science, education, and equity", says Alison Rempel Brown, president and CEO of the Science Museum of Minnesota. "The museum especially appreciates the gift at a time when funding for general operations is increasingly challenging, yet so critical to delivering our core education programs and mission. We are very grateful and committed to continuing our important work of helping everyone see themselves in science.”
