Services to be held for 3 National Guardsmen who died in helicopter crash

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — There will be memorial services for the three National Guardsmen who died in a helicopter crash Thursday.

All three crew members were on a routine maintenance test flight when the helicopter crashed into a farm field near Kimball in Stearns County.

The Minnesota National Guard Saturday identified the three soldiers as:

- Chief Warrant Officer 2 James A. Rogers Jr., age 28 

- Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord, age 30 

- Sgt. Kort M. Plantenberg, age 28

Visitation for Nord will be held Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019 at Perham High School, from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, from 9–11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Perham High School.

Visitation for Rogers Jr. will be held Saturday Dec. 14, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winstead. A prayer service will be Sunday Dec. 15, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School.

Visitation for Plantenberg will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Saint John's Abbey Church. A service will also take place at the church at 1 p.m.
