MINNEAPOLIS --Three people were hurt Tuesday morning after a triple shooting in south Minneapolis, according to police.
Minneapolis Police were called at about 1 a.m. to the MotoMart at 33rd and Hiawatha. When officers arrived, they found three people who had been injured from gunshot wounds.
Minneapolis Police spokesperson John Elder said two groups of people in two separate cars began shooting at one another. Two people were found at the scene, and a third person was found shot in a car a few blocks away.
The front door of the gas station is still shattered from a bullet hole. No one inside was hurt.
The scene prompted Minneapolis peace activist KG Wilson to come rally for awareness. He held a "Don't Shoot" sign and gave the public his plea for safety.
"My condolences goes out to the families this happened to and the recent shootings that have happened, but we as a community have to come to the point where we say, look now, this is getting out of hand, enough of enough whatever meeting, whatever church, whatever mosque building or school, we as a community to have to come to meet up," said Wilson. "It's spreading. For the last week or month it's been in north Minneapolis but last night we were shown we need to bring some awareness to south Minneapolis also."
The victims were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for their injuries. One person is in critical condition.
No arrests have been made. Police are reviewing video surveillance from the time of the shooting.
