Officers identified in deadly Brooklyn Center shooting

At one point during the encounter, the officers deployed their Tasers, striking the man, but the Tasers didn't work on him.

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has identified three police officers who fired their weapons during a deadly officer-involved shooting in Brooklyn Center.

Authorities were called to a home on the 5900 block of Halifax Avenue around 4:15 p.m. Saturday Aug. 31, on a domestic assault involving "a man armed with a hammer and a knife," according to a news release.

At one point during the encounter the officers deployed their Tasers, striking the man, but the Tasers didn't work on him.

Shortly afterward, police say the man produced a knife and two of the officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding the man.

Officers provided medical aid but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Family members identify the man as 21-year-old Kobe Heisler who lived at the home with his grandparents. His uncle says Heisler is on the autism spectrum.
