MINNEAPOLIS - The wife of former Minnesota Vikings player Joe Senser has been released from a state prison where she has served time for a fatal hit-and-run.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections website says Amy Senser was transferred from Shakopee Women's Prison to an unspecified work release facility.

Senser was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide in the 2011 death of 38-year-old Anousone Phanthavong. Phanthavong was struck by a vehicle while refilling his gas tank on the shoulder of a Minneapolis exit ramp. That vehicle left the scene, and was later traced to Senser.

The DOC says Senser will be on work release until October, and then moved to supervised release until December of 2015.

Senser has been in custody since July of 2012.
