SAVAGE, Minn. — Local officials are teaming up with federal investigators to identify a person connected to two armed robberies in the south metro on Nov. 29.
According to information from the Savage Police Department, officers from Savage and Prior Lake Police, along with the Scott County Sheriff's Office, were called to the 1400 block of Highway 13 South on Tuesday just after noon for a report of a robbery.
Officials said a lone suspect entered the bank, approached an employee and began yelling at them while pointing a gun and demanding money. Police said the employee told the suspect there wasn't any money in the vault and the suspect left through the front door, empty-handed.
Witnesses describe the suspect as a man, approximately 6'2" and 230 pounds. He was wearing an orange and yellow sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, ski goggles and a black mask that covered his whole face.
Apple Valley Police responded to a similar incident on Nov. 29. Police said officers responded to the Royal Credit Union in the 14200 block of Cedar Avenue around 1:30 p.m.
Police said a man with a handgun jumped over the counter to make an employee open the bank's vault. They fled before officers arrived, officials said.
The suspect in this incident was described as wearing an orange construction-style coat, dark pants and a ski mask.
