MINNEAPOLIS — A suspect is in custody in connection with the murders of a mother and her adult daughter Saturday in Minneapolis.
Police spokesman John Elder confirms the arrest of the 46-year-old suspect, which took place near Surdyk's liquors Monday night. He offered no other details. Homicide investigators are putting together a case to present to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for potential charges. KARE 11 does not name suspects until they are officially charged.
Eileen Marsha Mark, age 67, and her 42-year-old daughter Jennifer Ann Angerhofer were shot and killed at an apartment complex Saturday night in the Marcy Holmes neighborhood near St. Anthony Main. Officers were dispatched to the building on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue SE at 10:30 p.m. Saturday on a report of "sounds of shots being fired."
Minneapolis Police spokesperson John Elder says when officers arrived they found Mark and Angerhofer dead inside an apartment.
A news release from MPD at the time said the "suspect, or suspects, fled the scene prior to officer's arrival."
Other than assisting medical calls or EMS crews, Elder said MPD does not get called to the area often.
"This is not an area where we experience high crime or anything of this magnitude," Elder said. He asked everyone to be vigilant and to speak up if something seems out of the ordinary.
Police say a decision on charges is expected by noon on Wednesday.
