MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police say an 11-year-old girl was hospitalized overnight after being hit by a bullet fired into her bedroom.
The incident happened shortly after midnight on the 2300 block of Bryant Ave. N. A news release says squads were dispatched on reports of a shooting, and upon arrival found an 11-year-old suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police say the girl was transported to Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC) for treatment.
Investigators say preliminary information indicates that the child was injured by a bullet shot into her bedroom from outside the home. Officers canvased the scene and gathered evidence but at this point no suspects have been arrested.
The news release does not indicate whether police believe the home where the girl was sleeping was being targeted, or whether shots were being fired at someone or something else.
