BURNSVILLE, Minn. — A jury has found a Burnsville woman guilty of third-degree murder in a high-speed crash that killed two people on Easter Sunday in 2021. Authorities have described the crash as the result of illegal "drag racing."

Camille Dennis-Bond was convicted Wednesday by a Dakota County jury of two counts of murder in the third degree, two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, one count of criminal vehicular operation resulting in great bodily harm and one count of careless driving.

The crash happened on County Road 42 in Burnsville on April 4, 2021.

Twenty-two-year-old Tayler Nicole Garza of Woodbury and 22-year-old Dalton Lee Ford, of Burnsville, died in the crash.

Court documents say Dennis-Bond and her brother, who was 17 years old at the time of the crash, were racing each other side-by-side at speeds witnesses say were approximately "100" miles per hour, when they hit another vehicle, killing both people inside.

The brother of Dennis-Bond was also charged but his case is currently going through the juvenile court system. Prosecutors tried to certify the brother as an adult but it was denied.

After Wednesday's verdict, Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena released this statement:

"The deaths of Tayler Garza and Dalton Ford were due to the extremely reckless behavior of Camille Dennis-Bond and (her brother) engaging in the inherently dangerous act of drag racing. I thank the jury for their recognition of this by the verdicts they delivered today. My deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Tayler Garza and Dalton Ford for their great loss."

Dennis-Bond is scheduled to be sentenced in March.
