Crystal police request public's help investigating a man deceased in a car

Chief Stephanie Revering says a man's body was found in a vehicle parked on a city street Thursday morning.

CRYSTAL, Minn. — Crystal police are seeking help from the public after a man's lifeless body was discovered inside a vehicle Thursday morning.

Police Chief Stephanie Revering said in a news release that squads were dispatched to the 3200 block of Hampshire Ave. N around 7:40 a.m. on reports of a suspicious vehicle. When officers arrived they discovered a man inside a white, older model Chevy Tahoe who was deceased.

A report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 40-year-old Eddie Darnell Winters, and said Winters had been stabbed to death.

Crystal investigators believe important evidence from the homicide — knives, bags, backpacks, clothes with blood on them — may have been disposed of near the scene. They are asking residents in the following areas to check their yards for anything that may help break the case.

  • Addresses from 32nd Ave. N. to 36th Ave. N. between Georgia Ave. N. and Nevada Ave. N.
  • Residences along 36th Ave. N. from Nevada Ave. N. to Welcome Ave. N.
  • Properties from 36th Ave. N. to 40th Ave. N. between Douglas Dr. N. and Welcome Ave. N.
  • Yards along 38th Ave. N. to 42nd Ave. N. between Toledo Ave. N. and Noble Ave. N., also including the immediate area around the Robbinsdale Transit Hub

Police are also asking anyone who might have information about the vehicle or the person inside to contact them at 763-531-1020.
