HUBBARD COUNTY, Minn. — A former Hubbard County commissioner has been charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and electronic solicitation of a minor, according to court documents.

Prosecutors say Daniel Stacey allegedly engaged in "grooming behavior" with a 13-year-old boy back in November, while Stacey was the boy's bus driver.

According to a statement of probable cause filed in the County of Beltrami, the boy told his mother that something had been going on with 59-year-old Stacey, who had been the boy's school bus driver since the start of the school year.

The child indicated at the start of the school year, Stacey would make plans with his mother for the child to accompany Stacey after school. On Nov. 2, Stacey allegedly took the boy to his motorhome in Hubbard County and showed the boy pornography. The criminal complaint says he also encouraged the boy to participate in lewd acts.

According to the complaint, Stacey told the boy not to tell anyone and rehearsed what to say with the child.

The investigation revealed that Stacey worked as a DARE officer and volunteered with the Boy Scouts.

The Minnesota Burau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is concerned there may be more victims of Stacey.
