STILLWATER, Minn. - Former radio host Jeff Dubay is facing the prospect of another stay in jail after pleading guilty to an assault that left a woman bloodied and battered.
Documents indicate Dubay entered his guilty plea Monday in Washington County Court to charges of felony third degree assault. The incident took place August 2 inside a Cottage Grove home where Dubay lived in the basement. Police were called by a woman who said Dubay was attacking the homeowner.
Responding officers found the victim missing a tooth and bleeding with a bump on her eye. She told them that she and Dubay had an on-and-off sexual relationship, and it made her upset when he brought other women home. That particular night he brought home a female guest and the homeowner asked Dubay to have that woman leave. At that point he reportedly attacked her, causing significant injuries. She alleged that he choked her, and threatened to kill her.
At the time of his arrest Dubay proclaimed his innocence and vowed to "vigorously" fight the charges, but apparently had a change of heart. Sentencing in the case is set for March 22. Until then Dubay has to remain chemical-free and is subject to random testing. He cannot have contact with the victim or witnesses.
The guilty plea is just the latest run-in with the law for Dubay, who has previously served time for methamphetamine and cocaine possession. He completed treatment and claimed to be clean before the most recent drug arrest.
