MINNEAPOLIS - A Hennepin County jury has delivered guilty verdicts against a 26-year-old Columbia Heights man accused of killing a man inside a Minnetonka park-and-ride ramp.
Marcus Allen Wayne Hallmark was found guilty of both first and second-degree murder in the shooting death of Thomas John Russ, in March of 2017. Witnesses say the two men were changing a flat tire on a car inside the ramp when Hallmark pulled a handgun and shot Russ in the head twice. The victim was declared dead on the scene.
Hallmark fled on foot, and police soon tracked him to a nearby marsh. Authorities searched for nearly three hours before taking Hallmark into custody. They also located a handgun in the area.
Marcus Hallmark will be sentenced February 26.
