ST. CLOUD, Minn. - A jury has been selected to hear the murder trial of a man accused of fatally shooting a Mendota Heights police officer last summer.
After a week of questioning, a jury of 14 people was settled on Friday in the case of Brian Fitch Sr. Fitch is accused of killing Officer Scott Patrick during a traffic stop last July and then trying to kill other police in a shootout later that day.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the panel of seven men and seven women includes teachers, construction workers, an interior designer and a Vietnam-era Navy veteran.
Opening statements are scheduled Tuesday. The judge moved the trial to St. Cloud amid concerns Fitch couldn't get a fair jury in Dakota County.
Two of the jurors will be alternates.
