SHAKOPEE, Minn. -- Authorities say a Chaska man faces four criminal charges in an alleged road rage incident that shut down a popular golf course.
Twenty-seven-year-old Luke Campbell is accused of shooting from his motorcycle at a driver on County Road 82 near the Meadows at Mystic Lake Golf Course.
Authorities say Campbell allegedly fired several shots, striking the vehicle, before fleeing the scene. No one was injured by the gunfire.
The car’s driver saw Campbell had something in his hand, so he took note of his description and called police, who soon found the motorcycle registered to Campbell parked at nearby Mystic Lake Casino.
But when police tried to intercept Campbell in the casino parking lot, Campbell took off running, with police chasing him into a wooded area nearby. That's where investigators say Campbell walked into a swampy area near Meadows Golf Course, appeared to throw something, and then told officers to, “shoot me.”
The golf course pulled players off the course around 11 a.m. as a precaution.
Campbell was located and walked out of the swamp. Police later searched the area to find a cell phone, knife and bullets, along with needles and a scale in Campbell's hotel room.
Campbell faces two charges of possession of a firearm, an assault charge and a drive-by shooting charge.
