BENTON COUNTY, Minn. — After a two-day jury trial, a man has been convicted on all counts for a murder in St. Cloud.

Michael Jordan Carpenter was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder and second-degree intentional murder. In 2022, he was arrested for the death of Nicole Hammond.

As we've reported, Hammond and Carpenter were coworkers, and Hammond declined Carpenter's advances. Police found the 28-year-old victim in the parking lot of their workplace on October 24, 2022 with a pool of blood surrounding her head.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, who prosecuted the case on referral from the Benton County Attorney, said that nothing can bring Hammond back, but he is pleased to bring some justice to her family.
