MINNEAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Minneapolis Thursday.
The shooting happened just before 2 p.m., according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara. He told media this is difficult for his department because it happened in broad-daylight on a weekday afternoon.
According to O'Hara, the victim was with a group when "some type of altercation" occurred. The victim was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the back of his head in an alley. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the man as 26-year-old D'Shawn JC Porter.
The shooting happened near the intersection of 12th Ave. South and Lake Street. O'Hara said the 3rd Precinct is increasing patrols in light of the incident.
The MPD is investigating and O'Hara said they have not yet made an arrest.
