Man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after overnight shooting in Minneapolis

Police say the man was walking in an alley off the 2400 block of Bloomington Ave. S. when someone opened fire.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police say a man is hospitalized with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound after someone opened fire early Tuesday in an alley on the city's south side.

Police spokesman Sgt. Garrett Parten says squads responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 2400 block of Bloomington Ave. S. shortly after 3 a.m. Arriving officers located a man who had been shot and called for paramedics. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with what are described as life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the man was walking down an alley off Bloomington Ave. S. with another person when someone began shooting, firing multiple shots. Buildings and vehicles in the area were damaged by gunfire.

The MPD Forensic Team was called in to collect evidence as investigators attempted to locate witnesses to the shooting.

At this point there are no arrests.
