MINNEAPOLIS — Police are investigating a shooting death in north Minneapolis Thursday night after a man was found inside a crashed SUV.
The Minneapolis Police Department say they were responding to a call of multiple shots fired near the 1800 block of Russell Ave. N around 6:30 p.m. when they found the man in the driver's seat of the crashed SUV with a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving procedures, but the man died on the scene.
Authorities say witnesses saw multiple people running from the scene, and the white SUV traveling southbound on Russell Ave. N. The vehicle then crashed two blocks south from where the shooting occurred.
Police say the investigation is ongoing but they've detained multiple potential suspects.
"We have some potential suspects, but obviously we ask that anybody who has information, support this community and fighting this violence, and provide information through CrimeStoppers," said MPD spokesman Garrett Parten. "Make an anonymous tip and help us find anybody who might be involved that we don't have detained."
