LAKEVILLE, Minn — A Dakota County judge sentenced a man to prison Tuesday morning for the murders of a woman and their newborn son.
Donte Rapheal McCray, 33 of St. Louis Park, was sentenced to 47 years in prison for fatally shooting his fiancee, 31-year-old Kyla Bianca O'Neal, and baby Messiah Edward O'Neal.
McCray pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder by drive-by shooting in October.
On Jan. 8, O'Neal was shot outside the Lakeville Amazon warehouse. She was pregnant and was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. They were able to deliver baby Messiah, but he died after nine days on a ventilator.
"Mr. McCray will now be held accountable for the senseless murder of both Kyla and Messiah," said Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena in a news release. "I'd like to extend my sincere condolences to family, friends and loved ones of Kyla and Messiah."
Kyla's family told KARE 11 after the shooting that McCray had physically abused her and was having an affair before the fatal shootings.
