MINNEAPOLIS — Five juveniles were arrested in connection to a string of robberies that occurred Monday in Minneapolis.
In a press conference Monday, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said they believe the juveniles were involved in two, possibly three, robberies, and may have also been involved in additional robberies on Sunday.
"This has been an ongoing problem," said O'Hara. "The police department has activated a new strategy — a response protocol — we've had our juvenile investigators working around the clock to try and address it."
Minneapolis Police introduced the new response strategy to help curb some of the recent robberies, however, O'Hara said Monday's arrests didn't require the new protocol, which redirects officers from non-emergency calls. O'Hara said the department got enough assistance from outside resources, including the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, to avoid having to redirect their officers.
