MINNEAPOLIS — A 38-year-old Coon Rapids man has been charged in a fatal stabbing earlier this week in north Minneapolis.
Kevin Jarmaine Christians was charged with second-degree murder in the city's first homicide of the year.
Minneapolis police said in a press release issued early Friday that Christians was taken into custody Thursday night.
Squads arrived on scene in the area of Broadway and Fremont Avenue North just before 5 a.m. Wednesday to find a vehicle with two men inside. One was in critical condition, and the other had non-life threatening injuries.
Officers worked to save the critically injured man until they were relieved by paramedics. Unfortunately he died at the scene. The other man was taken to North Memorial Medical for treatment.
While officers were responding to the incident, another emergency call came out for a vehicle crash at 18th Ave. North and Emerson Ave. North. Police say it is unknown if the crash is related to the stabbing.
The Minneapolis Crime Lab and homicide investigators processed the scene and have begun their investigation.
No one is in custody at this time.
