MINNEAPOLIS — The mother of a man serving time in prison for murder is now herself facing charges, a year and a half after the alleged crime.

The charges stem from the November 2022 death of Zaria McKeever. Her ex-boyfriend, Erick Haynes, was accused of recruiting two juveniles to "deal" with her new boyfriend, but the criminal complaint said they shot McKeever in her Brooklyn Park apartment.

Court documents say Haynes gave a gun to Foday Kevin Kamara, who was just 15 at the time. Hayne was sentenced this spring to a mandatory life sentence with the possibility of parole after 30 years. Kamara pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the case.

Hayne's mother, Valesha Grace Parker, was charged Wednesday with four felonies, including aiding an offender, accomplice after the fact to first-degree murder.

According to the criminal complaint, Parker told investigators she was living at a hotel. She was seen on camera leaving that hotel with Haynes the morning after the homicide. When police said they found Kamara and others in her room, she did not know why they would be there. But, the complaint describes Kamara telling investigators he and others were in that hotel room at the same time as her discussing the crime.

Parker is scheduled to make an initial court appearance in three weeks.

Mckeever's sister, Tiffynnie, said over text that she's "happy that everyone that is involved is being charged," adding "other charges could have been made way sooner."

She also added, "that family is getting everything they deserve, they gave my sister hell."
