MINNEAPOLIS — A man is recovering after police say he was shot attempting to help a woman following an altercation in Uptown early Tuesday.
Minneapolis police spokesperson Sgt. Garrett Parten tells KARE 11 the victim was near the intersection of Aldrich Avenue South and West Lake Street around 12:15 a.m. when he saw an altercation taking place between a woman and another man. After the suspect left, the victim approached the woman to help her. That's when police say the suspect returned with a gun, and the victim was shot while running for safety.
Responding officers provided treatment until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital. The victim reportedly suffered at least one non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Sgt. Parten said police are unsure of the status of the woman on scene, adding that no arrests have been made.
