PLYMOUTH, Minn. — Police said a juvenile male was found fatally shot in Plymouth on Monday evening.
Officers were called to the 9700 block of 37th Place North just before 6 p.m. for a report of a shooting, police said in a press release.
When they arrived, officers said they found a dead juvenile male inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound.
No specific age was given for the victim. On Wednesday, The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the teen as 17-year-old Yaseen Thomas Johnson.
A spokesperson for Rogers High School did confirmed with KARE 11 later that Johnson was a student there. They provided this statement:
"ISD 728 was shocked and saddened early this morning to hear about the tragic death of one of our students last night.
We are currently supporting staff and students with our crisis response team, which includes counselors and extra staff, and are communicating support information to our high school families.
We are also providing any support we can for the victim’s family at this time. Additionally, we continue to work with local law enforcement however we may assist in the active investigation."
Plymouth police said they're looking for two suspects that may have been involved but fled the scene. Officials have not released any other information, identifying or otherwise, about these suspects.
