Police investigating deadly shooting in St. Paul

According to police, officers were called to the 900 block of Forest Street North at around 1:30 p.m. on a report of a man shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

ST PAUL, Minn — St. Paul police is investigating a deadly shooting on Tuesday in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers were called to the 900 block of Forest Street North at approximately 1:30 p.m. on a report of a man shot. When officers arrived, they found a man with an apparent gun shot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say no arrests have been made but they don't believe it was a random incident.

This is the 27th homicide in St. Paul this year.

"Gun violence affects everyone," said Sgt. Mike Ernster, the public information officer for the St. Paul Police Department. "One gun shot, as it reverberates through the community, obviously if affects the person that was impacted, but it also affects everyone around them that hears these shots."

Ernster said the city is up approximately 118% in shots fired calls, and homicides are up 13% as of the end of September.
