ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The man arrested after a parent saw him put his finger in the mouth of a child he didn't know Friday at the St. Cloud Public Library told investigators that he has sexual thoughts about children, according to a court complaint charging the man.
Lawrence Dale Danzl, 66, was charged in Stearns County District Court with one count each of stalking with aggravated violations, a felony, and indecent exposure/lewdness, a gross misdemeanor.
Stearns County District Court Judge Kris Davick-Halfen set bail for Danzl at $150,000.
The court complaint charging Danzl accuses him of telling the 3-year-old girl that he wanted to put his finger in her mouth, then immediately doing so. The child's mother took the girl to another part of the library to get away from Danzl.
Danzl approached the girl a second time and asked the girl if she wanted to go home with him, according to the complaint. Officers also learned the Danzl had offered money to other children at the library the same day.
When officers spoke to Danzl after the incidents, he told them he has sexual thoughts about children, including "doing sex acts on them," according to the complaint. He denied gaining any sexual gratification from putting his finger in the girl's mouth, but admitted offering money to two other children at the library, according to the complaint.
