GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Police in Golden Valley say a man pulled a knife in his attempt to get his dog back from the Animal Humane Society on Monday.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at AHS at about 3 p.m. on Monday. When they arrived, they found that a suspect had been trying to pick up his dog. The animal had been impounded after the suspect was involved in a separate incident involving the Robbinsdale Police Department.
Police say the suspect pretended to be a volunteer to get into the employees-only section of the building. Staff then tried to stop him when he was retrieving his dog, and a struggle ensued. Police say the suspect pulled a knife.
Staff members were able to subdue him and get the knife away from him, as officers arrived.
The suspect, a 39-year-old man from Minneapolis, was arrested. He's facing a potential seven charges including aggravated assault and terroristic threats, but no charges have been filed yet.
