Texas husband, wife charged with kidnapping, shooting her married ex-boyfriend, court docs say

According to Houston police, the woman lured the man she had an affair with to a Chick-fil-A where her husband, who was hiding in the vehicle's backseat, shot him.

HOUSTON — A Houston couple was arrested over the weekend after police say they kidnapped a married man she had an affair with and tried to kill him.

The victim was shot and wounded Saturday night outside a fast-food restaurant in southwest Houston but he survived, according to the Houston Police Department. KHOU 11 reporter Matt Dougherty spoke with the 36-year-old victim on Monday. He asked for his identity to be concealed because he feared for his safety.

Hana Ahmad Alolaimi, 35, and Omar Mahmoud Bishtawi, 48, are each charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

According to Houston police, Alolaimi lured her ex-boyfriend, a Door Dash driver, to a Chick-fil-A on Westheimer near Fondren. Bishtawi was hiding in the vehicle's backseat.

"There was an adult male, he was flagged down by a known female suspect who invited him into the vehicle," HPD Lt. T. Riley said. "After a brief conversation, a male came up from the backseat where he hid in a blanket."

Riley said there was an argument and Bishtawi put the victim in a chokehold. When the victim tried to get away, Bishtawi shot him twice in the leg, HPD said.

"Your husband jumped out from under a curtain that was in the backseat of the vehicle, put the complaining witness in a chokehold then pressed a firearm against the complaining witness's head. The complaining witness tried to get away and your husband shot the complaining witness two times," a prosecutor said.

The victim said Bishtawi told him he had to die because he had dishonored his wife.

HPD said the victim would have bled out if he hadn't been rushed to the hospital so quickly. He was shot in his thigh and foot and said he still can't feel anything on the part of his leg beneath his knee.

According to Riley, the couple drove away and called HPD to surrender.

During a court appearance, it was alleged that Alomaimi had an affair with the victim. He ended the relationship when his wife found out and the couple allegedly cooked up a plan to kidnap and kill him.

Police said the couple told different stories about what happened.

The victim said he called off the affair with Alolaimi three months ago. He said he met her at an apartment complex where he used to live and broke things off when things became toxic. After the breakup, he said she wouldn't leave him alone and showed up at his new place. He said he's still on edge and worried the couple might come back for another attack.

Bishtawi is being held on bonds totaling $200,000 while Alolaimi's bonds totaled $150,000.
