MINNETONKA, Minn. — Police and district officials are investigating what led to a reported stabbing inside a classroom at Minnetonka High School that left a student hospitalized.
In a letter sent home to families, principal Jeff Erickson said an incident between two students occurred near the end of the school day that resulted in an injury to one of them. Erickson said the student was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center via ambulance for "evaluation." He assured parents that staff members remained in the classroom to support students for the remainder of the period.
While the principal didn't elaborate on the nature of the injury, documents released by Minnetonka police refer to the conflict as a stabbing, and a city spokesman confirmed both parties are male. A district spokesperson said one of the students was injured by an art tool that the other was holding.
The Minnetonka police officer assigned to the high school as a resource officer will investigate the altercation, and the city spokesperson said no one is currently in custody.
