ST PAUL, Minn. — Two teens have been charged in the murder of a 19-year-old St. Paul man on the city's east side.
The teens, who are both juveniles, have been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection to a fatal shooting on Feb. 15 near the intersection of Kennard St. N. and Ross Ave. Police later identified the victim as Marcus Johnson.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. on reports of a person on the ground. When officers arrived they found Johnson unconscious and not breathing, with gunshot wounds to his body.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the complaint, Johnson was allegedly selling marijuana to the two juvenile suspects, who then shot Johnson and stole the drugs.
A female who said she was with Johnson, said they had gone to eat at the Mall of America and were on their way to meet friends when Johnson said he had to make a stop. According to the complaint, Johnson had been communicating with someone on his cell phone using Snapchat and the female believed he was stopping to drop off marijuana.
The woman said Johnson left the vehicle and she heard two gun shots. She said she didn't think the shots were connected to Johnson, but after he didn't return, she walked towards Kennard St. N. and found Johnson.
