SHAKOPEE, Minn. — A woman is in custody, held on probable cause second-degree murder charges in the Scott County jail after a man was found dead inside a home Monday.
The Scott County Sheriff's Office says dispatchers received a call shortly before 10:30 a.m. requesting a welfare check on a man living on the 6000 block of Century Lane in Credit River. Deputies arrived at the home and found the 45-year-old man dead inside the residence.
Investigators began working the case and soon identified a 45-year-old woman as a suspect in the man's death. She was arrested and booked into the Scott County jail pending charges.
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim,” said Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen in a released statement. “This investigation is ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time. Questions about this incident will likely be addressed in the County Attorney’s charging documents, if and when they are filed.”
Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) are assisting Scott County deputies in the investigation. The victim's identity and cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office once an autopsy is complete.
Credit River is located just southeast of Prior Lake.
