ST PAUL, Minn. — Police in St. Paul are looking for a suspect or suspects responsible for attacking a woman and hitting her with a pistol as she sat in her parked car Monday.

St Paul Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster says it happened around 2:15 p.m. at a parking lot near the intersection of Charles Ave. and Mackubin Street West. The victim tells investigators she had pulled into the lot with her 2-year-old sitting in the back seat, and was making a phone call when a group of juveniles surrounded her vehicle. She says one of them opened her drivers door while holding a pistol, and after a struggle the young suspect pointed the gun at her face, then pistol-whipped her.

The woman told police that the suspect and those with him ran off, jumping on bikes and riding away. At that point she realized her purse had been stolen. Investigators located it about an hour later, emptied of cash, credit cards and personal papers.

At this point no arrests have been made in the case.
