At Minneapolis St. Paul Airport Monday it was business as usual. However, the coronavirus is on the minds of many travelers.
"It hasn't been before. It is today for sure," said Anna, a traveler at MSP who has two flights this month.
"I have my hand sanitizer. I have wipes," she said.
As people debate whether to travel or not, doctors do have some recommendations.
"If you have any questions it's time for a conversation with your physician," said Dr. Alison Peterson, VP of Medical Affairs at United Hospital in St. Paul.
She says it depends on the person, however travel is not recommended to a level 2 or level 3 country. The CDC has a list of these countries on their website.
If you are definitely flying you should know airlines are taking extra precautions.
"Actually have very good procedures. There's fresh air and appropriate filtration," said Peterson.
As far as what you can do Dr. Peterson says pay extra attention to health and hygiene rules.
"As far as always safe traveling as long as we're using our great day to day hand washing hygiene practices. Social distancing you think 2 yards it's basically your arms length plus my arms lengths. it's how we should be distancing ourselves from strangers."
Doctors say packing hand sanitizer and wipes for hard surfaces is recommended as well.
As Anna prepares to fly, that is something she'll keep in mind.
"Washing my hands. hoping nobody coughs on me," she said.
The CDC has also warned travelers against cruise ship travel particularly those with underlying health issues. The Minnesota Department of Health suggests you monitor the CDC website for any recommendations on traveling.
