DULUTH, Minn.- The "World’s Largest Rubber Duck" stole the show at the Duluth Tall Ships Festival.
The event kicked off Thursday.
Eight tall ships made their way to Lake Superior. But "Mama Duck" - who stands 61 feet tall and weighs 11 tons - was the big star.
It took a crew of 8-10 people to assemble, inflate and scrub her clean for her big show in her hometown.
Bob Hom, the duck’s handler, and the duck’s owner, Craig Samborksi, are both from Duluth.
So, the pressure was one for a flawless show. But life on the road hasn’t always been good.
The dirt marks around her neck are from a show in Philadelphia when an air mattress the duck was on failed.
"The duck ended up on the bottom of the Delaware River," Hom said.
This time "Mama Duck" is on a steel pontoon. She will be on display at Bayfront Park through Sunday.
