ANOKA, Minn. — The state's largest school district has selected a new superintendent.
The Anoka-Hennepin School Board voted Wednesday 5-1 to make Cory McIntyre the next superintendent. The district will now enter contract negotiations with McIntyre, who is currently the superintendent at Osseo Area Schools.
“Anoka-Hennepin Schools has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and a belief that all students can learn at high levels,” said McIntyre in a press release from the district. “I believe the mission and vision of the District is a match with my philosophy of education, and my skills and abilities as a leader.”
McIntyre has ties to Anoka-Hennepin after serving as the assistant superintendent and executive director of student services prior to taking his current role at Osseo Area Schools in 2019. McIntyre also spent three years in North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Independent School District 622, as well as time in Hudson and Rochester. He was also a special education teacher and school psychologist in the state of Washington.
“When I was working at Anoka-Hennepin three years ago, I really loved the staff’s focus on achievement and the commitment to students,” McIntyre said in the release. “I wasn’t looking for a change, but the work I did here was the most challenging and the most rewarding I’ve ever done. It’s a special place to me, personally, and I see the amazing opportunity in returning to the district.”
If contract negotiations are successful, McIntyre will begin July 1, 2023. He'll replace former superintendent Dr. David Law, who took over as the superintendent at the Minnetonka Public Schools District earlier this year.
