When describing his son Alex, Keith Wolf can go on and on about him.
"He had very strong values and I'm proud of that," said Wolf. "He was very concerned about the environment. That's one of the reasons he was a biker and concerned about carbon footprint. He was always willing to try new things."
Keith says Alex always went out of his way to help others.
"The word saved was used quite often. That he saved them," said Keith.
Keith was anticipating his son coming home to Antigo, Wisconsin for Thanksgiving this week. He is now saying his goodbyes.
"I was looking forward to him coming around, now every time we get together, it's just palpable he's not there," said Keith.
Alex was killed last week when his bike was hit by a semi during a turn near 12th Street and Linden Avenue in Minneapolis. Police are still investigating the crash.
Friday evening, bicycle advocates formed a human wall near that intersection to protect the bike lane and to raise awareness for bike safety.
"If there's anything that can make the roads safer for everybody," said Keith.
He says many have reached out to him to show their support.
"Responses from people we don't know is incredible. It's just incredible," he said.
That helps him get through this trying time.
"He'll be with us in spirit," said Keith.
Keith says a celebration of life for Alex will be held in Minneapolis at a later date.
