Fire destroys popular central MN bar

NEAR LITTLE FALLS, Minn. - A popular small town bar is reduced to rubble following a roaring fire near Little Falls Monday night.

Morrison County deputies were dispatched to Herbie's Bar in Sobieski around 6:40 p.m. on reports the building was on fire, By the time law enforcement arrived the south end of the bar and two vehicles were fully engulfed. Fire crews from Bowlus, Little Falls, Upsala and Flensburg responded but the fire was already too far advanced. At the height of the operation 70 firefighters were working on scene.

Despite a strong response from area fire departments, Herbie&#39;s Bar was reduced to rubble.&nbsp;

The building has been deemed a total loss. At this time there has been no mention of a possible cause of ignition, but the State Fire Marshal is on scene leading the investigation.

Four people were inside the bar when the fire started, and all were able to escape without injury.

Herbie's is a popular family owned business, known for their excellent Friday fish fry. The loss of the business will be felt by the community of Sobieski, which is about five miles southwest of Little Falls.
