The Uptown Arby's location will be transformed into a six-story apartment complex, with an anticipated completion date of mid-2020.

MINNEAPOLIS - The smell of curly fries and horsey sauce will be long gone by the time a new development opens in the former site of the famed Uptown Arby's.

After the announcement was made that the longstanding, and yes, some would say iconic Arby's would be torn down, a candlelit vigil was held for roast beef fans to mourn the oversized neon sign that stood on Lake Street and Emerson.

Now, nearly four months later, we're learning the site will be the future home to a six-story apartment complex.

Reuter Walton Development's developer Kyle Brasser states they purchased the property to build about 170 rental units that will range in price from $1,250 to $2,000. Brasser said most of the rentals will be in the $1,250 to $1,800 range.

The building will also include two levels of underground parking, a community room, outdoor pool, a game room and a roof deck.

Construction is slated to begin in January of 2019 with a completion date of mid-2020. The apartments will be available for rent by early 2020.

Reuter Walton currently owns 15 buildings in Minneapolis.
