MN Dept. of Revenue provides free tax filing for some Minnesotans

People who meet certain requirements qualify for free help with their tax returns.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesotans who meet specific requirements qualify for free tax preparation at certain sites around the state. 

The Minnesota Department of Revenue under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP Tax-Aide programs has set up more than 200 tax preparation sites statewide.

The requirements are as follows: being age 60 or over, earning below $55,000 a year, having a disability or speaking limited English.

To find a free tax preparation site near you, visit the website for an interactive map.

The department says sites are staffed by IRS-certified volunteers that are ready to help qualified individuals.
