That message was made painfully clear at TCF Stadium on the U of M campus Saturday afternoon, as the Gophers stepped on the accelerator and never let up in dismantling the Iowa Hawkeyes 51-14. By doing so they wrestle the trophy pig, Floyd of Rosedale, for the first time since 2011.

Gophers Quarterback Mitch Leidner threw for four touchdowns, three of them to tight end Maxx Williams, and rushed for 77 yards in the blowout win. Tailback David Cobb added 74 yards on the ground.

Iowa scored a touchdown on their first drive and then stalled mightily, thanks to the aggressive play of the Gophers defense. They picked up another score with less than a minute left in the game. Starting Hawkeye QB Jake Rudock went 10 of 19 for a paltry total of 89 yards. Rudock also threw an interception.

Taking control of the bronze pig means that Minnesota has captured two of its three coveted rival trophies. Earlier this season the Gophers beat Michigan to take control of the Little Brown Jug. The only one that remains is Paul Bunyan's Axe, which Minnesota will try and grab when the Gophers play the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison November 29.
