You might think that the only place for your old, stained T-shirt or broken television is the trash can.
But before you throw away your junk, consider taking it to a Green Disposal donation facility.
There are two donation facilities in Hennepin County that accept pretty much everything. Hennepin County Environment and Energy works to encourage Green Disposal through these drop-off facilities.
They can be found in Bloomington at 1400 West 96th Street and in Brooklyn Park at 8100 Jefferson Highway.
People who live in Hennepin, Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Ramsey, and Washington counties are able to bring their unwanted items to these facilities.
Mattresses, batteries, old clothes and chemicals are just a few examples of the household items these places help recycle.

The facilites do charge to drop off some items, such as tires or appliances. For more information on fees, click here.
The items you bring in will be transformed into something useful. For instance, socks with holes in them could end up as insulation or carpet padding.
If you bring in old containers of chemicals that are still somewhat full or almost new, the facility will put them on a shelf for others to take.
Don't forget - anything you bring in needs to be clean and dry. Your limit is 5 33-gallon bags per drop-off.
A spokesperson at the facility recommends keeping a box for junk in your home and bringing it in once a year when it's full.
"While you're in the process of decluttering, reflect about the stuff that you buy and if you really need it. Because the less junk you have, the less you have to declutter," the spokesperson said.
