Cauliflower crust pizza from Hy-Vee

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Trying to bring your family back to the dinner table?

Hy-Vee Savage Registered Dietitian Melissa Bradley, RD, LD will show you how to assemble a healthier alternative to your traditional family pizza night that is ready in 30 minutes or less.

Cauliflower pizza crust not only helps you control sugar, calories and sodium, but also helps you get an additional vegetable serving in and is gluten-free.

Cauliflower Crust Pizza with Sausage and Veggies

Serves 3 (2 slices each)

All you need:

4 oz mild Italian pork sausage

1 (9½ inch) frozen cauliflower pizza crust

½ cup pizza sauce

½ (8-oz) pkg fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

½ cup Hy-Vee Short Cuts bell pepper strips

½ cup Hy-Vee Short Cuts zucchini and summer squash slices

1 cup shredded low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese

Fresh oregano, finely chopped

Fresh basil leaves

All you do:

1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Cook sausage in skillet until meat is browned. Drain.

2. Place frozen crust on a baking sheet. Spread pizza sauce on crust. Top with mozzarella slices, sausage and vegetables; sprinkle with shredded mozzarella. Sprinkle with oregano and basil leaves on top.

3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and edges are golden brown. Cut into wedges.
