Gov. Walz extends Sun Country vaccine incentive

People who get their shot at Terminal 2 at MSP airport will be entered into a weekly drawing for a $200 travel voucher from Sun Country Airlines.

MINNEAPOLIS — Have you gotten your vaccine yet?

Governor Tim Walz announced he's extended the vaccine incentive partnership with Minneapolis-based airline Sun Country Airlines.

Minnesotans who get their Johnson & Johnson shot at MSP Terminal 2 through Sept. 22 can be entered into a weekly drawing for a $200 travel voucher from Sun Country. A winner has been chosen each week since the incentive program launched on July 1.

“Whether you are traveling or not, the vaccine is the ticket to protecting your family from COVID-19,” said Gov. Walz said in a statement. “Getting the safe, free, and effective shot is vital to slowing the spread of COVID-19. That’s why we are continuing our work at Terminal 2 to meet Minnesotans where they are by helping them to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Keep rolling up those sleeves, Minnesota.”

The single dose vaccine by Johnson & Johnson is currently being administered through the Terminal 2 pop-up location at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, before security checkpoints. People must be 18 or over to receive the shot and enter for a chance to win. The offer is open to the general public and no boarding passes or appointments are needed.

The Terminal 2 location is located at 7150 Humphrey Drive and is open daily 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Talk to staff onsite to get a one-hour parking voucher.

The Walz-Flanagan administration has launched several vaccine incentive programs to encourage Minnesotans to get their shots. Right now at the Minnesota State Fair, people who get their first vaccine dose can immediately claim a $100 Visa gift card.
