MINNEAPOLIS — While most people might associate February with Valentine’s Day and the month of L.O.V.E., February is also Heart Health Awareness Month.
Health experts say as crazy as it may seem, we are all at risk for a heart attack. And while there are risk factors that can’t be changed such as age and gender (men have a greater risk of heart attack then women); there are many risk factors that can, such as obesity, diabetes, smoking and physical inactivity.
Experts say lifestyle changes can decrease your risk of a heart attack. Many of us have seen the statistics, the signs with people clutching their chests and falling to the ground and even that commercial about how an aspirin a day can keep the doctor away. Experts say while this may be helpful for some, it might actually induce more stress than preventative action in others.
"All it takes are a few lifestyle changes today, to decrease your risk of a serious heart episode in the future," said Connie Sheehan and Myrika Schneider from PUSH Fitness. Sheehan and Schneider show you how to take on your heart health, by giving your ticker the love it deserves, and by becoming a happier, healthier you!
