MINNEAPOLIS — A full decade since MNsure first offered health insurance plans through its marketplace, enrollment is once again open to Minnesotans and their families starting Wednesday.

MNsure was established in tandem with 2013's landmark Affordable Care Act. The health insurance marketplace aims to serve those without access to affordable health care through their jobs - like the self-employed, gig workers, etc. - and early retirees who don't yet qualify for Medicare. This year, officials say eligible Minnesota families will save an average of $562 per month in 2024 if they purchase their plans through MNsure.

Since 2013, MNsure said it has helped families across the state save more than $2 billion in health care costs.

“When shopping for health insurance feels complicated, MNsure is here to help,” said MNsure CEO Libby Caulum in a statement. “With MNsure, you can compare private health plans from multiple insurance companies in one place, connect with free, personalized help from a MNsure-certified broker in your community, and access discounts to lower your health care costs that aren’t available anywhere else.”

In order to receive benefits beginning on Jan. 1, applicants must enroll in MNsure by Dec. 15. Plans for those who enroll between Dec. 16 and the Jan. 15 deadline will begin coverage on Feb. 1.

If you're interested in enrolling in a health insurance plan with MNsure, experts are available by appointment to help you through the process.

Visit MNsure's website, call representatives directly at 651-539-2099 or 855-366-7873, or visit the MNsure Contact Center during business hours.
