GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — The flu has hit hard and fast this year. And, just while local doctors are trying to contain the virus, another is taking hold: RSV.
It’s a virus that comes around every year. For adults it’s just like a cold, and can go away in a few days.
But, for babies under 6 months old and especially those that are premature or have respiratory issues, it can be serious and even deadly.
Experts say this year RSV is more severe than in past years.
The timing couldn’t be worse, as the flu is aggressive here in the Twin Cities as well.
Dr. Jim Stowell, an ER doctor with The Urgency Room, joined us with an update.
