POLK COUNTY, Wisconsin — You can volunteer to help those effected by severe weather in Polk County, Wisconsin by helping clear storm debris and downed foliage from July 26 to July 28, starting 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
A volunteer reception center (VRC) will be set up at Unity High School, located at 1908 WI-46, Balsam Lake, WI 54810.
Volunteers will be assigned to a variety of work projects, lead by qualified personnel.
It is a requirement that all volunteers be in good physical shape.

- Long pants
- Solid footwear (boots preferred)
- Gloves
- Safety glasses
- Hearing Protection
- Bug spray
- Sun protection
*Volunteers experienced with chainsaws are asked to bring their own if possible, provided they also bring personal safety equipment such as chaps, helmet protection, eye protection and ear protection. They must also be self-sufficient with this tool.
RULES FOR REGISTRATION
- Participants must produce a driver’s license or other valid picture ID.
- Participants may not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Minors will only be permitted if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- No pets will be permitted.
- Do not sign up for a particular job if it will be too physically challenging.
