Hundreds show up for candlelight vigil to honor 20-year-old George Musser

Stillwater Police say Musser's body was found Christmas Day after he went missing early Saturday morning.

STILLWATER, Minn. — On a silent night in Stillwater, hundreds came together in the cold to honor the life of 20-year-old George Musser.

The candlelight vigil was held Monday night in front of the old Lift Bridge just a few hundred feet from the bar where Musser spent some of his last moments in life.

According to the Stillwater Police Department, Musser was last seen at Brian’s Bar in downtown Stillwater early Saturday morning.

His aunt, Anne Weber, says the family noticed Musser hadn’t come home that night, so they went out to look for him.

“They found his keys and his wallet next to a dumpster, and they contacted police. Police got involved,” Weber explained.

More than a hundred people showed up on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to help search for Musser.

Police say his body was found more than two miles away in Baytown Township on Christmas night.

“It was a big hole this holiday without having George at the table,” Weber said.

The family will remember Musser for his big heart and the love he shared with everyone.

“Whenever he would come into any family event, he just hugged everybody and told them he loved them,” Weber said.

“We were just asking ourselves; how can we be more like George? I think the best way is to just to hug the people you love. Tell them that you love them, every time you see them. Just don’t let that go by, because you don’t know when it will be the last time you see somebody.”

The family wants to thank everyone who came out to search for Musser and everyone who has sent them messages of support during this tough time.

A GoFundMe page has already brought in nearly $44,000 in less than 48 hours to help the family with funeral expenses. A family spokesperson says they are still working on a date and time for a funeral.
